Project Summary

  • Why did they want the remodel – The client wanted an outdoor space designed for family gatherings and entertaining—a place to make lasting memories. As they said, “we only have a number of summers to enjoy with the family, so we might as well make a space for entertaining.” The remodel centered on a large covered patio paired with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, designed to extend the home’s living space outdoors. The goal was to create a space that was functional, comfortable, and visually appealing, where friends and family could cook, dine, relax, and enjoy the natural surroundings.
  • Design Challenges/Our solutions – Early in the process, aligning the homeowner’s vision with the designer’s direction presented some challenges and caused minor delays. As the contractor, we facilitated discussions, clarified goals, and helped guide decisions to ensure everyone was on the same page. Once alignment was achieved, open communication and a solution-focused approach allowed the project to progress smoothly. The design incorporated thoughtful details like integrated lighting, ceiling fans, and strategically placed seating areas to maximize both comfort and usability.
  • Construction Challenges/Our Solutions – From a construction standpoint, proper drainage was critical for the large patio cover and outdoor kitchen. We carefully planned and installed gutter drainage and a linear drain system to safely channel water away from the structure. Additionally, connecting the new rooflines to the existing home required precise framing and coordination to ensure structural integrity and a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. These efforts ensured the new patio and kitchen would remain functional, safe, and enjoyable for years to come.
  • What makes the project unique? – The finished patio, overlooking a scenic pond, feels like a private retreat. The combination of the covered outdoor living area and fully equipped kitchen created a versatile space for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying nature. From family dinners to weekend gatherings with friends, this remodel transformed the backyard into a central hub of the home’s lifestyle, blending comfort, functionality, and visual appeal.
