Project Summary

  • Why did they want the remodel/What was the client’s vision? – The homeowners had recently purchased this property and immediately recognized its potential. While the house itself was somewhat run down, the setting was extraordinary—perched above the Marsing Valley with sweeping views stretching toward the Snake River. Their plan was to establish a vineyard on the surrounding acreage, and they wanted the home to reflect that vision: an elevated, updated space that matched the beauty of the land around it. The remodel focused on reworking the primary suite, refreshing the utility and living rooms, replacing the front door, and redesigning the staircase railing. Their goal was to transform the home into a warm, inviting retreat that complemented its stunning landscape and supported the lifestyle they were creating.
  • Design Challenges/Our solutions – The primary bathroom required a full redesign to accommodate a freestanding tub, a larger walk-in shower, and improved privacy for the water closet. We reworked the floor plan, added a cavity pocket door, removed bulky framing, and created a bright, open walk-in shower with a glass surround. At the staircase, the outdated railing didn’t meet code. Rather than replace the treads, we removed the old railing and installed a new metal system that brought it up to code while giving the entry a modern look. In the utility room, low ceilings and a dividing wall made the space feel cramped. Removing the wall and dropped ceiling, then adding new cabinetry, created a more functional and spacious layout. These updates modernized the home while preserving its character.
  • Construction Challenges/Our solutions – Overall, the construction phase went smoothly, with only one significant obstacle. The homeowners wanted to keep the existing flagstone patio at the front entry, but once we installed the new steel front doors, a noticeable gap appeared between the threshold and the uneven stone surface. Replacing the patio wasn’t part of the plan, so we engineered a custom metal threshold, powder-coated to match the doors. This not only filled the gap cleanly but created a cohesive and intentional entry detail. Aside from that, the project was straightforward.
  • What makes the project unique? – This remodel stands out because of its setting—the home sits high above the valley, with panoramic views that change with every season. The updated interior now matches the beauty outside, giving the homeowners a refined, comfortable space to enjoy as they begin developing their vineyard. The primary bathroom is a highlight of the project, offering a spacious, spa-like feel with thoughtful amenities and well-balanced proportions. Throughout the home, the improvements bring together modern comfort, elevated finishes, and a sense of calm that fits perfectly with its location and long-term vision.
